Halls blog: Former pastor honored, walk-thru at Adrian Burnett

Sandra ClarkHalls, Our Town Neighbors

The John and Pat Holland Pavilion at Salem was dedicated with a picnic at the church. John Holland was a long-time pastor at the church until his retirement. If you are on Facebook, check out Chris Vandergriff’s page. Chris has 4.7 thousand friends, by the way. Several of them posted notes to the Hollands.

Bea Slaton wrote, “John and Pat, you have made our community a much better place to live. We don’t have words to tell you how much you are appreciated. Your work has led so many souls to Christ it will live on thru eternity.

Steve Abbott posted: Certainly has been a spiritual guide and inspiration to many in the Halls community.

Glenn Holbert commented: John Holland and his wife, Pat, have been around since the 1970s and made a very special impact on the community, I think, and I really appreciate them.

Dennis L. Peterson wrote, “Although our family didn’t attend Salem, when my parents were involved in the accident in which my mother was killed, John Holland was right there to comfort and console because he was a good neighbor as well as a good pastor. Always had a high regard for him.”

Notes

Say good-bye to Adrian Burnett: Amy Bridges Webb announced a good-bye to “our temporary school.” A walk-thru at the old school is open to the entire community. The building will be demolished once the new school is opened. The first high school graduating class to go through Adrian Burnett Elementary is the Class of ‘84, said Webb. I thought a lot of former students would like to walk through their elementary school before it’s replaced by the new one. Lots of good memories. Saturday, Oct. 1, 4-7 p.m.

Estate Sale: 3801 Seeber Drive, Knoxville (Halls). Thursday, Friday, Saturday (Sept 29-30 and Oct. 1). 9-2.
