Concert Saturday, Blessing of the Animals Sunday

Church of the Good Shepherd’s Blessing of the Animals is Sunday, Oct. 2, at the 11 a.m. service. “This will be the first time our church has conducted the blessing in our sanctuary on Jacksboro Pike and we are all quite excited about it,” said Roy Arthur. “It could be very interesting if someone decides to bring their horse instead of cat, dog, bunny, etc.”

Parishioner Melinda Davis explains: “First there was ‘Bring your child to work day,’ and then there was ‘Bring your pet to work day’ and now it’s ‘Bring your pet to church day’ (Fido says it’s about time; Fluffy says ho-hum).

“This year the Blessing of the Animals moves indoors – the Feast Day of St. Francis falls on Sunday, October 2, and we will bless our animals as part of the 11 a.m. service. Bring your pet (controlled/contained), your stuffed animal, or, if your non-human is shy, a photograph for a blessing. Join us (with or without an animal) as we give thanks for all creatures, great and small.”
