There are a number of worthy celebrations this weekend. From star athletes to budding artists, the city is ready to give its stars their flowers and let them bask in the summer sun. Come outside and get in the celebration mood, no matter what piques your interest.
Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame – Knoxville Convention Center (June 25, 5 – 9 p.m.) Knoxville has always been a hub of athletic excellence. From the gridiron to the track to the golf course, just about every sport has an East Tennessean excelling at the highest level. Thursday, ten of those will be inducted into a select group that represented the region with pride and dominance at the top of their game. Former Lady Vol Candace Parker is slated to host the evening’s event.
Singo – Walnut Springs Winery (June 25, 6:30 p.m.) Bingo with a jam-fueled twist is coming to Strawberry Plains, as patrons put their music knowledge to the test with this fun-filled game that’s part luck and part jukebox know-how. This event is running every Thursday evening until October.
Summer Solstice Dinner – Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum (June 26, 6 – 10 p.m.) Garden patrons and plant life enthusiasts are gathering to celebrate one of Knoxville’s most luscious venues. This garden party comes complete with multiple courses, classy music soundtracking the meal and complete with a sunset viewing just in time for dessert. All proceeds will go to support the garden and its annual operations.
Game on Against Cancer – Covenant Health Park (June 26, 6 – 10 p.m.) It’s a little more than just a home game for the Smokies this Friday, as their ballpark namesake puts on one of its most important fundraisers of the year. Featuring celebrity baseball games, silent auctions and more activities to help raise funds while still keeping in the spirit of baseball season.
Dixie Lee Farmers Market – Parilla Cantina Kitchen (June 26, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.) Farragut will be hosting its signature locally owned and operated farmers market throughout the entire summer season! Coming with a variety of seasonal produce and home items, the market is primed to keep patrons cool through the summer heat with local goods. Get some grocery shopping done with a little more love in your ingredients for this new season.
Mussel Fest – Seven Islands State Birding Park (June 27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) A celebration of one of East Tennessee’s native critters is taking place all day Saturday at one of the hubs of our precious ecosystem. Games, demonstrations, and stations to learn more will be available campus-wide for a river creature celebration. This event is completely free and open to the public.
Twist of Kismet – Broadway Studios and Gallery (June 27, 5 – 9 p.m.) Before it closes for the month, every art enthusiast in town should be prompted to stop by this gallery, filled with a variety of skill sets. June’s highlights include mixed media, visual tapestries, and leatherwork from four artists with diverse backgrounds but equal talent.
Movie Night – Ancient Lore Village (June 27, 7 p.m.) This fantasy wonderland is keeping it on theme with a special screening on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Guests are invited to come in before the show for some food and games before diving into a world of heroes, villains and feats of valor on the big screen. Tickets for this event are starting at $49.
