Friday was win some, lose some for Tennessee athletics.
Tennessee softball, 28-1, nipped Florida, 2-1, in Gainesville. Sage Mardjetko and Karlyn Pickens combined for a four-hitter. The Lady Vols also got four hits.
The Gators were ahead going into the fifth inning. Doubles by Sophia Knight and Ella Dodge tied the score. Alannah Leach singled in twin sister Gabby Leach with the deciding run.
Pickens entered in the bottom of the fifth and escaped a bases-loaded and no-outs dilemma with three consecutive strikeouts.

Tennessee baseball lost to Missouri, 8-4, at Lindsay Nelson Stadium. The Tigers had 12 hits and scored runs in bunches. Tegan Kuhus took the loss. Steve Lawless and Blaine Brown homered for the Vols.
Tennessee is 15-7 and 1-3 against SEC teams.

Lady Vols basketball finished a disappointing season (16-14) with a 76-61 NCAA tournament loss to North Carolina State in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They also dropped their opener in the Southeastern Conference tournament and are stuck with an eight-game losing streak.
Talaysia Cooper scored 24 in defeat.

Tennessee women are in fourth place, some 200 points behind Virginia, going into the final day of NCAA swimming and diving competition in Atlanta.
Desharne Bent-Ashmeil won a silver medal off the 3-meter board. Her runner-up performance was the best finish by a Lady Vol in that event since Tracy Bonner won in 1995.
Tennessee finished second in the 400-meter medley relay with the team of Jillian Crooks, McKenzie Siroky, Muzuki Hirai and Camille Spink. Their time of 3:23.79 broke the SEC record they set last month.

Glad to see someone report on the losses by the Lady Vols basketball team. Things are not good over there and it’s time to own up to that.
I was annoyed at first after my second straight reply had been erased. But after thinking about time and priorities, I faced facts. I really have learned nothing on these articles so to be less glued to the screen, I have dropped this sight.

As Shakespeare wrote, “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark”. This seems to apply to the Lady Vols basketball season. To me the players are not that bad and nor is the coach. I hope whatever is rotten can be eradicated. I like them all too much to lose them.
