Collier Preserve: Fall Planting and Spruce Up is Saturday, Nov. 19, 10 a.m. to noon. A joint project with Keep Knoxville Beautiful, the goal is to clear invasive plants and pick up trash at the 12-acre natural space on Beaver Creek. Tools will be provided.  Sign Up

AMBC Fall Festival – Nov 4-6: 9-12 p.m., Baker Creek Preserve. Free. Info: Appalachian Mountain Bike Club. The 13th annual AMBC Fall Fest will open Friday evening and won’t slow till we pack it all up on Sunday afternoon. Guided rides, clinics, vendors and more. Details online.

Saturday, November 5

Fall Fest Women’s Joy Ride: 9 a.m., Baker Creek Preserve. Info: AMBC Joy Ride. No one gets left behind. We make sure every rider is comfortable with the group’s pace and that no section of trail is beyond the ability level of the group. E-bikes welcome. Free but must register online.

Sunday, November 6

Race Against Cancer 5K Walk/Run: 3 p.m., World’s Fair Park. Info: Thompson Cancer Survival Center Foundation. Race Against Cancer is a 5K walk and run that raises funds for the patients and families of Thompson Cancer Survival Center. Register online.

Tuesday, November 8

Full Moon Hike: 5:30 p.m., Seven Islands State Birding Park. Cost $10. Info: Seven Islands State Birding Park at 715-630-6848. November full moon is known as the Beaver Moon because it signals the time when beavers are busy building their winter homes. We’ll walk along the Accessible Bobwhite Trail and check out the beaver dam near the island. Register online.

Harvey Broome Group Monthly Meeting: 7 p.m. TN Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Info: Harvey Broom Sierra Club. Anyone interested in exploring the outdoors is invited to come and find out more from the leaders directly. All Harvey Broome Group programs are free and are open to the public. Details online.

Friday, November 11

South Knox Pub Crawl with Missy Kane: 9 a.m. – noon, TBD. Cost $10. Info: Legacy Parks Foundation at 865-525-2585. We will enjoy a more urban hike in South Knoxville and make a few stops at local breweries for refreshment. Register online.

Saturday, November 12

Workday on Dunn Street Hill: 9:30 a.m., Main overflow parking lot. Free. Info: Ijams Nature Center at 865-577-4717. We’ll hike to the newly created trail to Dunn Street Hill to tackle bush honeysuckle. Bring water. Tools and gloves provided. Register online.

Loyston Point Lost City Escape 50K MTB Race: 10 a.m., Loyston Point Trails. Info: Knox Bike Racing. The 31-mile course on the shores of Norris Lake will utilize Clinch River Loop, Mill Creek Loop, Loyston Loop trails and Hemlock Bluff trail. Route is fast and flowing. Register online.
