GotSneakers seeks donations

Susan EspirituOur Town Neighbors, West Knoxville

You remember the hit song, ‘These Boots Are Made for Walkin’, so let’s make a new version with ‘These sneakers are made for talking!’

The Center for English and Integration Services has partnered with GotSneakers, an organization that specializes in repurposing donated sneakers. No matter their condition or size, by simply contributing your old or unused sneakers, you can make a significant contribution. Just bring your donations to West Lonsdale Baptist Church Monday through Thursday mornings before noon or donate by texting 865-776-4251.

The Center for English and Integration Services is a non-profit organization in Knoxville that provides English language instruction for refugees and other internationals. The center is located at 2720 Dayton Street where classes are offered M-Th from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

The Center offers 7 levels of English, plus childcare and transportation all for free by enabling students to attend the program who could not otherwise gain instruction, while being tested for placement and progress.

The Center operates primarily by small grants and donations. Volunteers are always needed to serve as teaching assistants and childcare providers.

Everyone is welcome to visit the Center by requesting an appointment.
