Fountain City Town Hall’s August newsletter is filled with opportunities to connect, find support and celebrate the community — all part of the organization’s goal of building a healthier, stronger Fountain City.

Several ongoing programs offer fellowship and support. Co-Dependents Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Mondays at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4014 Garden Drive. The 12-step support group welcomes those seeking healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Caregivers also have a place to connect through the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group, meeting at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at The Point at LifeSprings Assisted Living, 4371 LifeSpring Lane. Facilitated by the Rev. Diama L. Brown Taylor of St. Paul UMC and sponsored by Alzheimer’s Tennessee, the group provides encouragement, resources and fellowship for those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia.

For something a little lighter, Mahjong and Mingle continues from 1-3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 19 at Fountain City UMC, 2121 Hotel Road. No experience is necessary to learn American mahjong, meet new friends and enjoy an afternoon out.

Central High School’s Class of 1971 is also preparing to celebrate 55 years. The reunion is Saturday, Aug. 29, at Bridgewater Place, 205 Bridgewater Road. The class was the last to graduate from the former Central High campus, now Gresham Middle School. Those unable to attend the reunion are invited to join classmates at Central’s football game Friday, Aug. 28.

Looking ahead, Fountain City Town Hall will hold its general membership meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, at Fountain City UMC. Christmas in the Park is scheduled for 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

Founded in 1972, Fountain City Town Hall is a nonprofit dedicated to serving, protecting and assisting in the development of Fountain City neighborhoods. Annual memberships are $20 for individuals, households and associates and $50 for businesses.
