Rockslide closes I-40 at TN/NC line: Flooding has closed lanes in both directions at the Tennessee/ North Carolina line. Travelers will need alternates routes around the closed roadways for at least two weeks.

Local headlines:

Weather: Sunny and HOT weather over the next days. According to the National Weather Service, actually becoming sunny today, with a high near 87 and tonight’s low will be around 66. Saturday will be sunny and hot, with a high near 91 followed by a low around 70 Saturday night.  Sunday and Monday will be more of the same with temperatures increasing into the mid 90s.

Make Music Knoxville returns. 14 locations will entertain with a  wild and wonderful mix of free musical events on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is proudly produced by the Arts and Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville, in partnership with the national Make Music Day initiative. Gov. Bill Lee to pick from final three candidates to fill former Criminal Court Judge Steve Sword’s vacancy. Sword moved from Knox County, known as the Sixth Judicial District, to the state Court of Criminal Appeals. The candidates are Emily Faye Abbott, Franklin Ammons and Cashauna Lattimore who were selected this week after a public meeting for all candidates conducted by the Trial Court Vacancy Commission in Knoxville.
