Tools for school at the Knox County Public Library

It’s back to school time which means getting that end of summer haircut and stocking up on new supplies. One of the most important supplies you can get may just be your library card. The library has resources to help students and teachers prepare for and manage the school year.

With your library card, you can get free online tutoring with subject area experts, study guides for the ACT and other tests, reference materials for term papers and research projects, and primary sources such as historic newspapers and photographs.

Here are a few of the resources available:

LinkedIn Learning

Check out thousands of videos and courses on trends in tech and creative design to build your skills with LinkedIn Learning.

News & Magazines

Current and back issues of magazines can be accessed through Flipster. Current and historical issues of newspapers can be found using Proquest Historical Newspapers and Newsbank.

Reference Resources

Encyclopedic and Reference resources such as Gale Ebooks, Oxford Reference, and Salem Online hold endless information for your school projects.

Primary Resources

Primary resources such as maps, photographs, and manuscripts are available through the Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection.

Study Help

Access expert tutors through Tutor.com. Tutors are available to help you with homework, test prep and career planning from 3-10 p.m. We also offer Tutor.com en español for our Spanish speaking patrons.

Test & Career Prep

High school students can get test prep material for college entrance exams, AP tests, the ASVAB, and college placement tests through Gale Presents: Peterson’s Test and Career Prep.
