Summer just got started. How can it be halfway over?

It seems that summer just got here officially, but it’s already half over. How can that be? The good news is, our Summer Library Club still has lots of programs to keep you coming back to the library and checking out more books. Our collective goal is to read a combined 350,000 hours over the summer. We’re on track to reach our goal but want to remind you to keep on logging those hours so you can win great prizes.

The library is full of fun for July. Here are just a few programs coming up:

Michael Messing has been doing magic for so long, well, he may have invented magic.

  • Magician Michael Messingwill bring his abracadabra best to six branches this month
  • Zoo Knoxvillewill bring out the Zoomobile filled with biofacts and a friendly creature or two
  • Tennessee Stage Company presents Shakespeare for Kids. The Bard, it turns out, can amuse kiddos in very unexpected ways.
  • Train Tunes– there’s nothing like a good song about trains to bring out the “all aboard” in us
  • Hominy Mamasare back together again and singing up a storm
  • Regular storytimes! We have about 40 storytimesevery week from Baby Bookworks to Preschool Play.

There are also Steam programs, Water Wars, even a luau and more at the libraries this July. The ever-illusive Waldo is running around downtown Knoxville. Join the Scavenger Hunt by Downtown Knoxville to find the little striped fellow. Whatever your taste, we’re bound to have something that tickles your kiddo’s fancy.
