FC church partners with Gresham

The Rev. Don Hanshew has returned as senior pastor at Fountain City United Methodist Church. He had brown hair when he worked there as assistant to Jim Whedbee, now retired.

Anyhow, Don is back with a neat idea. The church is on Hotel Avenue, just a block or so from Gresham Middle School. He writes: “It is hard to overstate how important a teacher is in the life of a child. … I am convinced that one of the best ways to bless children in our community is to bless our teachers.

“A teacher who feels the support of his/her church and community is a teacher that helps our community be better. We are in it with you!”

Hanshew is asking a church member to partner with one of the 75 teachers and staff at Gresham. As a prayer partner, the member will pray for their GMS partner by name each day. They will send monthly cards with encouragement and will remember special days like birthdays and Christmas.

Notes, cards or gifts should be brought to the church on the first Sunday of each month for delivery to the school. Info or just to say hello to Don, call 865-689-5175.
