Battle of Black Oak Ridge!

Save the date of Friday, March 3, at 7 p.m. at Halls High School to watch the “brave” staff of Adrian Burnett and Fountain City Elementary battle it out on the court for the title of “Best of the Ridge.”

It’s the half court challenge you won’t want to miss. Admission and concession proceeds benefit both schools and the entertainment will definitely make your Friday night!

Don’t block the fire lane, just in case they need an “emergency vehicle” even though it’s half court.

Buy your Girl Scout Cookies NOW!

I recently saw a post from a friend who, after a rough day at work, actually floated her pack of Girl Scout Thin Mints in her tub as she began her night of indulgence!

This reminded me to not only stock up on my own Tagalongs and Samoas, but to dig into the history of how this all started.

So, around 1910, the original cookies were baked by the Girl Scouts themselves with their mothers as the overseers and advisers. The Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, sold them in their high school cafeteria as a service project and the sale of cookies to finance troop activities began around 1917.

In 1922, a cookie recipe was given to the 2,000 girl scouts with the estimated cost of ingredients for seven dozen cookies to be 26 to 36 cents and the suggested sale price to be 25 or 30 cents per dozen.

WOW, times have changed, but they sure are tasty and now we know the package floats, too!
