Knoxville Habitat for Humanity has selected a new CEO.
Anna Engelstad, currently the non-profit’s chief operating officer, will become chief executive officer Sept. 1, 2024.
Kelle Shultz retired on January 1, 2024, after 30 years at the helm of Knoxville Habitat. In a feature on PYA’s website teknovation.biz, Shultz talked of joining the agency in 1994, 10 years after its launch in Knoxville.
When Shultz started, three employees and volunteers had just completed their 48th home. Today, there are almost 40 employees who are soon to celebrate the 700th Habitat home in Knoxville, the article reported.
Blake Lawson, chief development officer, said Knoxville Habitat reviewed 102 candidates from across the United States. “Our third-party consultant, Elle Benson, conducted in-depth interviews with 30 of these impressive individuals. From there, the top 10 candidates were carefully evaluated by our CEO Search Committee.”
Lawson added, “Anna brings a wealth of experience, passion and a deep commitment to our mission of building homes, communities and hope.”
