High school graduation is an exciting time in both the student’s and parents’ lives as a seemingly endless lifetime of experiences ends and an anticipated chapter of new ones is about to begin. In June of 2016 Steven Corum and his parents felt those same feelings as he graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School, but shortly thereafter he died tragically in a boating accident that August.

The Corums, however, wanted Steven’s anticipated next chapter to live on in another life so they created The Steven Corum Memorial Scholarship to honor his memory.

Recipients of the award must be a St. Joseph’s School graduating eighth grader who will attend Knoxville Catholic in the fall. They must exemplify Steven’s kind heart and his loving, free-wheeling spirit.

This year, Kinsey Nguyen was selected to receive the first annual $500 scholarship at St. Joseph’s eighth grade graduation. Eddie and Peggy Corum, Steven’s parents, were on hand to present the scholarship along with St. Joseph school principal, Andy Zengel, and vice president of advancement at Knoxville Catholic, Joni Punch.
