Rarely does one get the opportunity to learn a skill from the very best in the business. If you love drawing, writing or graphic novels, this is your chance.

Jerry Craft

Join award-winning cartoonist Jerry Craft for a workshop on how to draw comics and write graphic novels. Craft is the author-illustrator of the No. 1 New York Times best-selling graphic novels New Kid and Class Act. The free workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 12, from 12:30-2:30 at the East Tennessee History Center Auditorium, 601 S. Gay Street. Registration is required.

New Kid was the first book in history to win the Newbery Medal, the Coretta Scott King Author Award and the Kirkus Prize for Young Readers’ Literature. In his latest book, School Trip, Craft shares his love of travel to inspire kids to see the world and embrace new cultures.

The Knox County Public Library is pleased to partner with UT-Knoxville’s Center for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, the Theory and Practice in Teacher Education at the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and the Friends of the Library to make this event possible.

NOTE: The first 20 registrants who show up at the event will receive a copy of New Kid. Register here.
