Mayor Madeline Rogero will join other community leaders and the developers for the groundbreaking of Baker Creek Bottoms, a multiuse development in the former Sevier Heights Baptist Church, at 4 p.m. Friday. The address is 3700 Lancaster Drive.

Local developer Tom Weiss and project partner Thomas Krajewski, land specialist for National Land Realty and former head of activities for Blackberry Farm, have met with nearby neighborhood groups over the past several months regarding plans for the site. They are working in collaboration with Michael Wood of Wood Realtors on the project, which is set to include a restaurant, coffee shop, retail and office space, a performing arts/events center, a brewery, a bike-rental shop and lodging.

Baker Creek Bottoms adjoins Baker Creek Preserve, a popular recreation space in South Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness. Baker Creek Bottoms is intended to become a recreational and social hub for the area. Info: bakercreekbottoms.com
