Big events ahead for Powell

Dr. Shana Sparks, director of public relations for the Powell Business & Professional Association, has listed upcoming events and opportunities to get involved:

  • PBPA meeting, Tuesday, Nov. 9, noon, Jubilee Banquet Facility.
  • Big Orange Pep Rally at Food City Powell with WIVK Radio. Friday, Nov. 12, 3-6 p.m. Vol cheerleaders, dance team members and Smokey. Chance to win football tickets.
  • Friends in Need: Remember when shopping at Food City Powell to add a “Friends in Need” Bag to your order at the register for just $10 to support local families during the holidays. Also, take a moment to long into your Food City account online and add the “School Bucks” program and select your local public or private school and FC will be donating a percentage of a financial gift (last year $700,000) to schools based on participation.
  • Powell High will be participating in the Winter Wishes for all the students. If you would like to make a donation to help this further this project, please see Patti Bounds.
  • Decorate The Park Day is Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. until noon at Powell Station Park on Emory Road just west of the high school.
  • Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 4, with Cocoa and Caroling at Powell Station Park at 2 p.m. and the Powell Lions Club Parade to begin at 5 p.m.
  • PBPA meeting Tuesday, Dec. 14, noon at Jubilee Banquet Facility, is a Dirty Santa gift swap ($25 gift minimum to play). No obligation to participate.
  • PBPA Banquet at Beaver Brook Country Club, Saturday, Jan. 15. Tickets $50 each. Man, Woman and Business Person of the Year awards; nominations needed. Make nominations here.
  • Cookies needed for the Cocoa and Caroling event. Bring packages of cookies to the November PBPA meeting or drop them at Laura Bailey’s office, Realty Executives Associates, Emory Road, M-F before 4 p.m. Donate money for cookie purchase here.
