Looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday while supporting two great local nonprofits? Head to the Knoxville Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Saturday, July 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Dog Appreciation Day.

The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley will be at the ReStore, located at 1511 Downtown West Blvd., with some of its adorable, adoptable dogs ready to meet potential new families. Whether you’re searching for your next best friend or simply want to stop by and say hello, everyone is welcome.

Shoppers can also receive 15% off one ReStore item by bringing a donation from the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley’s wish list. Donations help provide food, enrichment, cleaning supplies, and other necessities for the animals in the shelter’s care.

As an independent nonprofit, the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley receives less than $1,100 annually in government funding, relying instead on the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners to continue its lifesaving work.

“We’re so thankful for partnerships like this one,” said the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley. “Events like Dog Appreciation Day not only help our shelter dogs find loving homes but also remind us how fortunate we are to have a community that continually steps up to support animals in need.”

The Knoxville Habitat for Humanity ReStore is equally excited to host the event, sharing, “We’re also proud to partner with the Humane Society, Tennessee Valley for our annual Dog Appreciation Day this Saturday. Together, we’re supporting local families, caring for local pets, and creating opportunities to make a difference.”

Whether you’re looking to adopt, shop, or simply spend some time with some very good dogs, Dog Appreciation Day is a great way to support local organizations making a difference throughout the Tennessee Valley.

Pet Tip: If you’re meeting adoptable dogs this weekend, let the dog approach you first and offer a gentle greeting. Staying calm and giving them a chance to get comfortable helps create a positive first impression for both of you!

Founded in 1885, Humane Society, Tennessee Valley is the longest-standing animal shelter in the State of Tennessee. A stand-alone 501 (c) (3) limited-admissions animal shelter, Humane Society, Tennessee Valley, receives no funding from national humane entities or government agencies; it relies solely on private donations and grant funding.
