Honor Fountain City Day is a free, all-day event in Fountain City Park on Monday, May 25, Memorial Day at 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Food Trucks: April’s Grill, Irvey’s Ice Cream, Smith’s Endzone BBQ & The Sassy Squeeze
Carousel, Rides & Games: Pendleton Rides. There are hidden rubber ducks in the park. When they are found, they can be taken to the Town Hall table and turned in for free ride tickets.
Vendors: In addition to all the craft vendors, there will be the What Next in Knoxville booth. It will be set up to discuss and take questions and information in regard to the city of Knoxville Comprehensive Plan.
Activities and schedule:
- 10 a.m. – Bagpipe Duet of Austin Kindrick & Sara Manville kick off the event.
- 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Kyle Campbell & Friends
- 2 p.m. – Tennessee Wind Symphony Jazz Band
- 3 p.m. – Community Awards (see recipients below)
- 4 p.m. Memorial Day Ceremony to reflect, remember, and thank the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces who gave their lives in service of our country.
Fountain City Park will be visited by Uncle Sam, who will walk the grounds and hand out free flags to the children.

Each year, Town Hall asks the citizens of Fountain City to vote for several civic awards honoring individuals and achievements in the community. These votes are tallied by FCTH, and awards are presented at the Honor Fountain City Day/Memorial Day celebration.
Commercial Restoration: This award is given to any business owner or corporation that has renovated or reused a commercial property, thereby enhancing a neighborhood. This year, the 2026 award for Commercial Restoration goes to Fountain City Auto Clinic, located at 2823 Woodrow Drive.
Residential Restoration: This award goes to a private homeowner whose rehabilitation, renovation, or preservation of their residence has added to the community. This year the award goes to Lynn Weir and Barbara Danks and their beautiful home at 226 Hillcrest Drive.
Residential Landscaping: This award is given to a private homeowner whose garden or yard beautifies Fountain City through landscaping or plantings. The 2026 award for Residential Landscaping goes to Willy Roberts and Kevin McIntyre, who reside in a lovely Craftsman bungalow at 811 Gresham Road.

Person of the Year: This award is given to an individual who owns a business or works in Fountain City and who demonstrates long-term dedicated service to individuals and the community. The 2026 award for Person of the Year goes to Brad Owen. For many years, Brad has tirelessly served as a behind-the-scenes volunteer with the Fountain City Recreation Center, seeking no recognition or reward.

Friend of Fountain City: This award is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond to enhance and improve Fountain City as a community. This year’s award for Friend of Fountain City goes to Knoxville Police Officer Lori Banks. Lori serves as the East District Community Partnership Officer. She is responsible for scheduling police officers who assist in our Neighborhood Watch groups.

This year, we have included Youth of the Year: This individual must be under 21 years of age, and either be a resident or attend a school in Fountain City. We seek a person who exhibits extraordinary and responsible traits of character toward good citizenship, as well as learning to become a young, productive member of our community. Congratulations to Blake Gadd. As a recipient of this award, he will join the Fountain City Town Hall as a Jr. Board Member.
