Curious about building codes and fire codes as they relate to the growing field of solar and storage technology? More and more businesses, utilities and homeowners are turning to clean, renewable energy; and codes compliance is always part of best practices in the solar and storage industry.
Currently the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) provides training that includes codes, and it is available via the 2024 Tennessee Solar + Storage Conference.
This conference is hosted by the Tennessee Solar Energy Industries Association or TenneSEIA, November 20-21 in Huntsville, Alabama. The NABCEP training is included in the conference cost and, with proper registration and attendance, can provide continuing education for NABCEP-certified professionals in the industry.
However, this class taught by NABCEP educator Sean White is also open to interested parties outside the solar industry. The class titled PV, Energy Storage, NEC, Building and Fire Codes! includes rules for rapid shutdown of photovoltaic systems on buildings for firefighter safety. Ask at the TenneSEIA website about special discounted rates for firefighters and other safety personnel to attend this educational event at the conference.
See more details about this class and other content at the conference web page. The overall conference includes business best practices, Tennessee Valley Authority policies and ongoing evolution of the energy industry, specifically as applicable throughout the multi-state TVA territory.
Anne Brock is marketing coordinator for Solar Alliance, which designs and manages solar installation projects for large manufacturers and small businesses and is a TenneSEIA member. She can be reached at email or 865-221-8349.
