Three more KCS administrators

Dr. Jon Rysewyk has promoted three more administrators to the central office, all effective July 2023.

Meagan Booth has been appointed supervisor of employee relations. Booth joined Knox County Schools in 2009 as a teacher at Halls High School. In 2016, she was named assistant principal and athletic director of Halls High School, and also served as an assistant principal at Karns High School. She is currently the principal of Dr. Paul Kelley Volunteer Academy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in math, a master’s in educational leadership, and an educational specialist degree from UT.

Andrew Brown has been named “senior executive to the superintendent,” a new position. Brown has been principal at Central High School since 2019. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s in education administration and supervision and a doctorate in educational leadership from Carson-Newman University.

Theresa Nixon is executive director of academic supports. She joined West High School faculty in 1993 as a teacher. In 2008, she became a districtwide science instructional coach, then a science specialist and supervisor. She was named director of technology and library services for KCS in 2013 and currently is director of teaching and learning supports. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in education from UT.
