As part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, Tennesseans are invited to the launch of Declaration: I Am Tennessee, an event highlighting the stories, voices, and identity of people across the Volunteer State.

The kickoff celebration will be held Thursday, July 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S. Gay St., Knoxville.

The event invites participants to reflect on the question, “What is your Tenn-I-See?” and celebrates Tennessee’s unique culture, history, and communities as part of the statewide Tennessee America 250 initiative.

The program is presented through a partnership that includes Tennessee America 250, the Arts & Culture Alliance, the East Tennessee Historical Society, the Knoxville Writers’ Guild, Visit Knoxville, and the City of Knoxville.

The project is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee and administered by the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial.
