Knoxville Catholic senior Sydney Mains was named TSSAA Division II-AA Miss Basketball on Tuesday, March 12, in an awards ceremony at MTSU.

Mains scored 2,325 points in her four years, ending a remarkable career as the all-time leading scorer in Knoxville Catholic history for both boys and girls, according to Pam Rhoades, director of marketing and communications for the school.

Mains was named 2024 Miss Basketball after being a three-time Miss Basketball finalist. She has appeared in four state tournaments, earning two state tournament Most Valuable Player awards as the team also won two championships following her lead.

In addition to the two MVP awards, Mains has been selected three times as the 5 Star Prep Player of the Year and three times as the Regional Player of the Year. Those categories have not been announced for 2024 as of this publication.

Mains has accomplished many other MVP and athletic recognitions while having to rehabilitate a major knee injury during her junior year after ACL reconstruction surgery including a partially torn PCK and MCL.

Catholic trainer Allison Maurer brought in her mentor Jenny Moshak, former head of sports medicine for Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols, to help guide Sydney through rehabilitation which was accomplished in six months.

Congratulations for an astounding career, Sydney Mains.
