Cub Scout Pack 451 dedicates Amherst Little Free Library

Amherst Elementary School is the benefactor of a Little Free Library installed and dedicated on Monday, March 25, by Cub Scout Pack 451.

Little Free Libraries operate on a take-a-book and leave-a-book system. The starting inventory was donated by the Scouts, but books will be supplemented through the Amherst PTO.

Pack 451 Cubmaster, Ben LaBarre, says anyone who takes a book can return the book to the Amherst Little Library, another Little Free Library (LFL) or share the book with someone else. According to the LFL website, there are more than 150,000 registered Little Free Libraries across 120 countries worldwide.

The troop will maintain the library by occasionally going through the books, pulling out any that are too worn or ragged, and keeping them orderly.

While this LFL is for anyone in the community, most of the initial books placed in are children’s books. As it gets used more, the troop plans to have adult and teen books donated as well.

If someone is interested in contacting the pack, they can email Pack451Trinity@gmail.com with any questions about scouts or donations for the LFL.
