Sock hop, Pizza Hoss and more

North – South – East – West. We all know former teachers and administrators with Knox County Schools. Some even remember friends from the old city system. Here’s a chance to support the museum that houses memoribilia from schools like South, Young, Rule and Holston that have been folded into other zones.

South Knox friend Dave Armstrong posted this:

Game over. Win or lose. It didn’t matter. It was off to the gym where you kicked off your shoes and kicked up your heels with your current love after the game.

You don’t have to take off your shoes Friday, April 22, 2022, for the annual Knox County Museum of Education Sock Hop, but you can take a journey back in time with music from the ’50s and ’60s. You’re also welcome to dance. Pro-Audio Mobile DJs provide the music.

The event supports the Knox County Museum of Education‘s annual budget. The museum, home to thousands of items about Knox County and Knoxville City Schools, is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization that depends on gifts and fundraisers to pay expenses.

The South High Octet will bring their music to the show as well. The members went to school in the very building housing the museum.

Show starts at 6 p.m. and continues to 9 p.m. There are dozens of silent auction bargains to bid on. Food is available. Tickets are $25 at the door or can be purchased ahead of time at the museum. Call 865-579-5484 ext 5 for details. You may tour the museum that night as well.

Thanks, Dave. Good cause, good fun.
