Sailing home with Read City

Reaching the harbor is always a glorious sight! We’ve been on a sea-faring voyage with Mayor Glenn Jacobs’ Read City USA challenge to read and track one million hours in 2022 as a community. The great news is that we are only 2,000 hours away from goal! There’s time for you to track your hours and get us all the way home. Victorious readers, we are!

This year’s theme was Oceans of Possibilities. We divided the big goal into three distinct challenges: Anchors Aweigh from January – April, Dive In Deep over the summer, and finally, Sailing Home in the fall. All it takes is reading about 20 minutes a day and tracking your time either on our Beanstack Tracker App or on our Treasure Map. Reading a great book is its own reward, but each challenge completion comes with the added bonus of a fun prize.

Since we’re all about oceans, it’s only appropriate that Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban helped us launch the program in January with a video message. He promised to check up on our progress at the end of the year. We can’t wait to let him know we’ve completed the challenge two months early!
