Many of this week’s tributes to Ukraine have displayed sunflowers, their national flower. A humble, blue-collar flower, she shows up by the thousands, all facing the same direction in a haphazard military precision. As the common citizen has taken arms against their aggressor, their resolve has given us all a lesson in patriotism.
