Funeral service is today (6/4/23) for James Slyman, best known as Jim, who passed away at age 82 on May 31, 2023. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with the service at 4.
Mr. Slyman founded Slyman Real Estate & Auction in 1971, and the company continues, now with the real estate side owned and managed by his daughter, Laura Slyman. His wife, Janice, is also a Realtor. Son James Paige Slyman manages the auction company, now based in Atlanta, per the website.
Professionally, Mr. Slyman was respected by his peers. He was a past president of the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors, was named Realtor of the Year and earned Realtor Emeritus status. He was a pioneer for selling real estate via the auction method.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Mr. Slyman is also survived by sons James and Jared Slyman, step-daughter Elizabeth Snide and their families. The full obituary is here.
