Visitation for Mary Jane Bowman, 81, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Farragut Presbyterian Church, 209 Jamestowne Blvd., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Ms. Bowman taught at Cherokee Middle School in Kingston for 24 years. While there she created an eighth-grade honors class that combined social studies and reading. She was sponsor of Beta Club.
She is survived by husband Robert, daughter Debbie Cornett and son Robert Jr. and their families. According to her obituary, she was an avid tennis and bridge player and an active member of Farragut Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. She volunteered with several organizations including the Farragut Museum as a docent, the Tennessee History Museum and the food pantry.
