Fred H. Russell Jr. will be memorialized at a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Christ United Methodist Church in Halls. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m.
Mr. Russell, 75, was a well-liked educator, retiring as principal of Powell Elementary School. He also was principal at Karns Intermediate and Fairview Elementary after having begun his teaching career at Cedar Bluff Middle School.
He was known for his musical talent, singing at the church and in a gospel quartet. He played in the Pride of the Southland Band while a student at UT.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Ann Russell; their children, Stephen Russell and Scott Russell; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Info here.
