The University of Tennessee presents “Point of View: Regional Editorial Cartoons” at the Downtown Gallery starting January 26.
The exhibition features editorial cartoons by regional artists including:
- Charlie Daniel, retired cartoonist for “The Knoxville Journal” and “Knoxville News Sentinel”
- Daniel Proctor, Knoxville freelance editorial cartoonist
- Clay Bennett, editorial cartoonist for “The Chattanooga Free Press”
- Marshall Ramsey, UT alum and former cartoonist for “The Daily Beacon” and currently editor-at-large and editorial cartoonist for “Mississippi Today”
- Robert Turner, editorial cartoonist and creative director for “Grainger Today”
- Carl Sublett (1919-2008), former cartoonist in Bristol in the 1940s.
- Ed Gamble, former editorial cartoonist for “The Nashville Banner” and the “Florida Times-Union”
- Danny Wilson, Knoxville-based freelance illustrator and editorial cartoonist
This exhibition is in conjunction with “A Serious Look at the Funnies: 100 Years of Comics” currently on view at the Ewing Gallery of Art + Architecture on the UT Campus. Admittance to both galleries is free. The exhibit opens Wednesday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Go here for more information and gallery hours through Feb. 26.
