George Samuel “Sam” Pavlis, 61, of Fountain City passed away April 27 at UT Medical Center. He is survived by sons Tyler Pavlis and Blake Pavlis and their families. He also is survived by siblings Bill, Nick and Tina Pavlis. The full obituary is here.
Mr. Pavlis worked with his father, the late Bill Pavlis, who founded A&B Distributors in 1972. The specialty food wholesaler was an extension of three generations in the Knoxville restaurant business. Bill Pavlis represented Fountain City on the Knox County Commission and served as chair. He was later appointed to Knoxville City Council.
Sam Pavlis played golf for the University of Tennessee and was a team captain. He faithfully followed the Vols.
There will be a Eucharist Service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Dorothy Pratt officiating. Interment will follow in Lynnhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel, 1421 N. Broadway.
