Sailing home with Read City

Mary Pom ClaiborneOur Town Youth

Land ho! We’ve been reading together as a community since January to meet our one-million hour Read City goal. So far, we’ve read more than 750,000 hours on this seafaring voyage: Oceans of Possibilities. In January, we set sail for distant shores, and we learned to navigate by the stars in our Anchors Aweigh Challenge. This summer, we explored the depths of the seas in our Dive In Deep Challenge.

After months at sea, we’re now heading home for the final leg of our literary journey. Our Sailing Home challenge kicks off on September 1. Your quest is to read for 45 hours by December 15 and discover some literary pearls, natural wonders, and cultural riches in our own backyard.  Reading is reward enough, but you can earn prizes along the way.

Pick up your treasure map at any Knox County Public Library location to get started. If you prefer to track your hours online, you can download the Beanstack Tracker app.
