Richard Tumblin: One of the good guys

Sandra ClarkFountain City, Obits

Family and friends of Richard Tumblin will gather on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Northside Christian Church to celebrate the life of a man who made everyone around him feel special. The family will receive friends from 9-11 a.m. with the funeral at 11 a.m. and graveside services at 1 p.m. at Lynnhurst Cemetery.

Richard Tumblin

The Rev. Frits Haverkamp will explain how the Tumblins were charter members of the Northside Christian Church, 4008 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville. Richard, the middle son of Earl and Gladys Tumblin, was predeceased by brothers Jim and John, both doctors of optometry.

Mr. Tumblin was a veteran of the Air Force, after which he was a lifelong employee of the Equitable Life Assurance Society following in the footsteps of his father. He never retired, wanting to be available to his clients. Over the course of his career, he obtained certifications as a financial consultant (CLU, ChFC and LUTCF).

He was a good husband to Suzanne and a great dad to children Cathy, Richard John and David. You may read his full obituary here. And my earlier story here.

I will miss Richard Tumblin, a friend and business colleague, and one of the guys who made Fountain City unique.
