A family visit to Mont Saint-Michel on the coast of Normandy, France, had us leaving as the sun slowly descended behind the small island and Norman Benedictine Abbey of St. Michel. Preoccupied with the beauty of sunset, we almost missed the luminous golden light on the plowed field and farmhouse to the east.
Normandy is a gorgeous region with a steeped history. Let us never forget the service and sacrifice of all who bravely battled on its beaches.
