Folks of a certain age will remember UT Knoxville Chancellor Archie Dykes, who served from 1971-73 between Charles Weaver and Jack Reese. Dr. Dykes was ably assisted by his helpmeet Nancy Haun Dykes. She died August 13, 2024, in Prairie Village, Kansas.
Archie and Nancy were native East Tennesseans. She was born in Kingsport, Tennessee, and graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and the University of Memphis.
The couple shared a busy life in education and business. They raised sons John Dykes and Thomas Dykes and have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The full obituary is here.
A graveside inurnment service will be held September 28, 2024, at Pioneer Cemetery on the Lawrence campus of the University of Kansas.
