Congratulations to Linda Morrow of Athens, Tennessee, selected as this year’s winner of the Food City Claude P. Varney Humanitarian Award. Food City will donate $1,250 to the charity of her choice.

Morrow, produce fresh-pak coordinator, said she is proud to be an employee of the Athen Food City. As a lifelong resident of the community, she has always wanted to make a difference. “And I want to continue to give back.”

Steven C. Smith congratulated Morrow saying, “We’re extremely proud of the difference our associates make in their community by devoting their time and talents in the service of others.”

Linda Morrow’s list of volunteer activities is impressive:

  • 20-year volunteer with the United Way of McMinn County
  • Led numerous employer campaigns which resulted in 100% employee participation
  • Dedicates over 1,000 hours annually with the Starr Regional Medical Center Auxiliary
  • Volunteers with Coordinated Charities’ food drive for needy residents
  • Volunteers with Athens City Schools
  • Visits and sings at Terra Bella (formerly Athens Place Assisted Living)
  • Assists with Athens Optimist Club’s Friendly Fellows Club Christmas food basket assembly
  • Participates in Athens Lions Club’s annual 5K and the Covenant Health Marathon
