I begged to go to Norman, Oklahoma, to watch the Vols and my cohort, the Book Whisperer, obliged.
Leaving Saturday morning on a flight out of McGhee Tyson, we were banking on no hiccups to get into Norman for the 7:45 kickoff. We made it and despite the car thermostat recording 100 degrees and the heat being barely tolerable, it was a fantastic quick trip with nail-biting results.
It was a fun game with lots of orange and white, Rocky Top resounding throughout the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, situated on the east side of the Norman campus and touted as the largest sports venue in the state of Oklahoma, also called the “Palace on the Prairie.”
My other cohort, Marvin West, wrote all about the game on Monday, with the defense taking over in the beginning so we all knew that the Vols were in control throughout the game. Oklahoma fans knew too and left the stadium clad in orange and white by the end of the fourth quarter so we could celebrate the victory for the team and Coach Heupel in a grand way.
Vols 25- OU 15 was a proper introduction to the SEC for Oklahoma as one of my other friends posted on his social media page.
