I crashed a really cool birthday party this past Monday at the Fountain City Lions Club. I didn’t really belong because I am only a few years old and guests at this special birthday happen to be 80!
The Central High Class of 1962 elected Bobby Davis their class president for their sophomore, junior and senior years and he has continued to take those responsibilities seriously! He, along with his co-conspirator as he calls her, Dianne Sebby Turner, who has maintained their class roster through email and social media, planned a class reunion every five years, beginning with a ten-year reunion until the 60-year reunion two years ago.
Seeing an 80th birthday is a special milestone of its own, they decided to have a birthday party, celebrated on September 16 with over 65 members, including seven from out of town including spouses. The menu was pot luck so the feast was bountiful.
Being the caretaker of the class of 321, Dianne has maintained a memorial book of the 104 deceased classmates which she brought to share with those in attendance.
This closeknit class doesn’t wait for the quintennial reunions, but meet frequently for ladies’ luncheons and men’s monthly gatherings.
Davis said, “When we started our journey in 1958, Dan Boring began his long tenure as principal so we became his first graduating class. We have been an extremely close class who have cherished our virtually lifelong relationships.”
