Leslie Russell posted this picture and thank you to Lloyd’s Electric Service, 7233 Oak Ridge Hwy. in Karns for their donation of 1,960 bottles of water to the KHS band. Russell said some 160 kids “work hard in the heat and the boosters do our best to keep them hydrated.” The band provides promotional incentives for companies that donate.

This one is dated (tree in background) but Terry Creech Hill posted this shot of Lou Daley (at left) at the opening of a 20-room addition at Autumn Care in Karns. Daley has taken care of beauty needs for the residents since the facility opened in 2009. “And she’s still at it,” said Hill.

Sheena Fowlkes and family with Charlie Austin (right), president of the Beaver Creek Kayak Club. Fowlkes won the 2022 Karns Fair kayak raffle, sponsored by the BCKC, at the Karns Community Fair. The kayak was donated by Andy Morris. This year’s version was the 69th annual fair – the longest running community fair in these parts. Chris  Wade has a bunch of photos here.

Notes: Julie McBee-Fritts is the new contact point for renting the Karns Community Center (old library) at 7708 Oak Ridge Highway or the Youth Center at 6616 Beaver Ridge Road (behind the fire station, near Bojangles). The number is 865-292-5270 (no texts, please). Carolyn Greenwood, administrator of I Love Karns on Facebook, said checks can be made to Karns Community Club and mailed to 7511 Carpenter Road, Knoxville TN 37931.
