Jay Bailey: A full and blessed life well lived

John W. “Jay” Bailey Jr., 84, well-known business and civic leader, has died. The family will have a celebration of life service at the Rose Mann Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022, with receiving of friends at 3 p.m. and the service at 4.

Mr. Bailey’s family said it best: “(Jay Bailey) entered the arms of his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of November 28, 2022, after a full and blessed life. Jay’s devotion to his family, love for his friends and long years of service to many in Knoxville were a testimony to the love of God impacting the world through a life dedicated to loving God and serving others.” The full obituary is here.

Jay Bailey was in the printing business for over 40 years, first as the president of Keith Press Inc. and then in printing sales for several firms, including Business Graphics Services until his retirement in 2014.

He and his late wife, Martha, were active supporters of Knoxville Young Life and served on the local Young Life committee for decades. He served on and chaired the board of directors for SOAR (now Thrive Lonsdale). They attended Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church.

He served the Knoxville Rotary Club (as president) and Rotary International (as District 6780 governor). His was a “full and blessed life” well lived.
