History Society to meet

The Powell Station History Society will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, October 3, in the lobby of First Horizon Bank (across from Powell High School on Emory Road).

The featured speaker will be Jim Hackworth, who is on the committee for the Powell High School monument project, which will erect a monument at the high school in honor the Powell High Alumni who were killed in combat action.

First Horizon is also participating the Second Harvest Food drive. If you can bring a dry, canned goods to the meeting to donate to this cause, your efforts will be greatly appreciated, said president Ron Evans.

Lighthouse Christian Church, 8015 Façade Lane, Powell, will hold its annual Fall Junk in the Trunk on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rain or shine. This year, we are welcoming crafters as well. If it rains, we will move you into the church. We are looking for a variety of crafters, so please send me some info on what you craft. For a $10 donation, you can sell your items out of your car or trunk in the church parking lot. Keep 100% of your sales. To reserve space, email Stephanie at s74jst1@gmail.com
