Ghouls, goblins and Saturdays at the library

Watch out for ghouls and goblins around the library on Halloween. Celebrations are going on all over the Knox County Public Library system. It’s worth checking out the dozens of pumpkins decorated in the style of a storybook character that are on display at a library near you.

We’ve definitely got the spirit this year! Here’s a schedule of festivities for the kiddos:

Saturday Stories and Songs are back! The library has restarted its weekend programs for families. The popular series features storytellers, musicians and performers at a different library every week.

This Saturday, a Knoxville Symphony Orchestra ensemble will perform a special musical storytime at 11 a.m. at the Howard Pinkston Branch Library (7732 Martin Mill Pike). This program combines children’s books with classical selections, sound effects and hands-on learning for toddlers, preschoolers and young children. (By the way, Saturdays aren’t your only opportunity to attend a KSO Musical Story Time. The ensemble will play in the Children’s Room at Lawson McGhee on Nov 7 at 11 a.m. and the North Knoxville branch on Nov 9 at 11.)

Next up on Saturdays, WDVX Kidstuff Live host, Sean McCollough, will perform at the Bearden Library at 11 a.m. on November 4, followed by storyteller Georgi Schmitt at the North Knoxville Branch Library at 11 a.m. on November 11. The full schedule is here.
