Getting back to business as usual at the ibrary

It’s beginning to feel like old times at the library. Regular storytimes are back, the Friends Used Book Sales are in full swing at various locations around the county (this week’s sale is at the Halls Branch Library), and our big kickoff celebration to launch summer reading is only a week away. This year’s Children’s Festival of Reading promises to be the best yet!

Here are some other great activities this month at the library:

Seniors, Don’t Be Scammed! 

May 11 | 11 a.m. | Burlington Branch Library – Officer Watson from the Knoxville Police Department will show you how to protect yourself by taking a few simple precautions. From phone, mail and email safety, you’ll leave equipped to spot a scam.

Paper Art: Spring Flowers

May 12 | 5:30 p.m. | Burlington Branch Library – Susan Bernard will demonstrate how to turn rolled strips of paper into decorative flowers. All materials are provided. Ages 16 and up.

Preventing Elder Fraud

May 14 | 2 p.m. | Cedar Bluff Branch Library – Dr. John A. Sterling will teach seniors to recognize and avoid various scams or forms of fraud.

Evening Reads: “How Beautiful We Were” by Imbolo Mbue

May 16 | 6 p.m. | Bearden Branch Library – Join busy working-mom Nicole to wind down your day and catch up on good books with new and old friends.

Cedar Bluff Book Circle

May 19 | 1 p.m. | Cedar Bluff Branch Library – Have you read a book lately that you loved (or hated) and want to talk about it with fellow book lovers? Join Jordan and Jesse for a friendly chat about books!

Teen #BookTok Trivia and Bingo Night 

May 19 | 6 p.m. | Farragut Branch Library – Teens are encouraged to bring their #BookTok knowledge for a fun night of trivia and bingo with other #BookTok bookworms! Snacks provided.
