G. Wilson Horde practiced law for 66 years

A prominent Knoxville and Oak Ridge attorney has died. G. Wilson Horde Jr. passed away February 9, 2024, at age 97. He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Thompson Horde. Five children and their families survive. The full obituary is here.

Mr. Horde is best known for his work as general counsel for Union Carbide Nuclear Division and Lockheed Martin Energy Systems for 33 years. After graduating from Vanderbilt Law School in 1951, he began practicing law in Knoxville with Stone, Bozeman & Horde. He served as assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Tennessee during the Kennedy Administration. Most recently, he joined the firm of Kramer Rayson where he practiced until age 90 – a 66-year career in law.
