Sarah Moore Greene Academy fifth grade boys are mentored by the Omega Lamplighters, gentlemen from the Iota Alpha Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. They volunteer for the character development program to make a difference in the lives of these young men.

The gala is Thursday, March 9, and we filed this story before getting pictures. Conley Underwood, president of the Carter High School Foundation, reported 196 tickets were pre-sold and he felt “confident we will reach our 200 goal tonight.” Stay tuned!
David Gornto is district-wide teacher of the year
Nearly 200 educators were honored at the annual KCS Teacher of the Year banquet at the Knoxville Convention Center on February 28. Recipients were nominated by their peers and selected using the Tennessee Department of Education’s guidelines for Teacher of the Year. David Gornto was the district-wide winner for 5th-8th Grade. David teaches 6th grade science at Holston Middle School.
