Get out your superhero capes, your princess tutus or your animal onesies – it’s a costume 5k! Join the Cansler Y for a free and fun Costume 5k Social Run starting and ending at the Cansler Y. It’s set for Sunday, Oct. 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Monk Feehery says, “You do not need to be a runner to join in on the fun. We will have a costume contest for some Y swag and gift prizes from local businesses after the run. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
“Come join us for a cup of coffee and a healthy snack at 11 a.m. before the run or enjoy some after the run. Bring your kids or other friends to run with you or have them ride a bike or scooter next to you for some fun. Stroller, dog and walker friendly – just be mindful of traffic and other participants, please.”
No cost or registration required, just a fun opportunity to meet some friends and neighbors, get active and moving, and show off your best costume!
- Date: Sunday, October 30
- Time: Coffee at 11 a.m., 5k social run starting at 11:30 a.m.
- Location: Starts and ends at the Cansler Y, 616 Jessamine St.
- Cost: NONE! Invite a friend. This event is free for our entire community.
- Registration: Registration is not required, but it does help us plan ahead, so please RSVP by registering hereif you know you’re coming!
- Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes!
- Course: The 5k course is open to traffic. Please be aware of traffic when crossing intersections and running on the street. Start/Finish at the front of the Cansler Family YMCA. The course will be marked with Y logos and arrows on the ground. We will also have the route on MapMyRun.

Cansler YMCA is collecting gently-used Halloween costumes for kids. Drop off the costumes at the Y through October 14.
