KCDC’s First Creek at Austin Phase 1, designed by Johnson Architecture, has been selected a winner of a Keep Knoxville Beautiful Orchids Award in the new architecture category. The 105-unit community – the first of three phases – offers contemporary one- to four-bedroom units and modern amenities close to the Old City and downtown Knoxville.

Join us for the first annual Carter High School Foundation Gala Thursday, March 9, at the Radius Rooftop Lounge in downtown Knoxville. As of 2/28, 143 tickets are sold and paid for. Organizer Conley Underwood hopes to go over 200. We will have heavy hors’ dourves, live music, a live and silent auction and lots of fun as we kick off the new Carter High School Foundation. Tennessee Day of Hope celebration at The Gateway is Friday, March 10, from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Come to W. Fifth Avenue to hear speakers, get free haircuts, enjoy great food and participate in entertainment for the whole family.

Battlefield Farm is looking for 5 local African American youth to engage in a farm-based experiential learning program centered around organic methods to generate food crops amid East Knoxville’s recognized food deserts. Applicants must me 14-18 years old and agree to work 10 hours a week for 10 weeks from June-August. Intern pay rate is $15 per hour. Application window is open from Feb 1 through April 1.
