Domestic violence campaign

To increase awareness about domestic violence in our community, the Knoxville Family Justice Center (KFJC) has launched a billboard campaign for the month of October. The KFJC’s goal is to raise awareness about domestic violence and to make more people aware of the resources available to victims through the KFJC and its partners.

The KFJC serves as the hub for domestic violence services in Knoxville and Knox County.

“The KFJC works to be a ‘one stop shop’ for victims who need help escaping domestic abuse,” Executive Director Kathryn Ellis said. “When a victim of domestic violence leaves their abuser, they often have nothing with them and need help not only with legal issues and with finding a safe place to sleep, but also having food, gas, a safe phone and items to help them keep their children safe.”

There are four billboard designs in eight locations throughout Knoxville and Knox County.  One is pictured above.

Another design states, “Domestic violence shatters families.  Purple protects them.”  The final two say, “Pink saves lives.  Purple saves families” and “Help us protect children from domestic violence.”

Each design includes an easy-to-remember website – www.PurpleKnoxville.com/

The Knoxville Family Justice Center continues to advance its belief that everyone deserves to live a life free from violence and full of safety, opportunity and choice.

Anyone who needs help or wants more information about resources for domestic violence victims can call the KFJC at 865-521-6336.
