Webster (or Google) defines the term Grandmother simply as “mother of one’s father or mother.” I know quite a few grandmothers who redefine the role by a different narrative because being a Grammie, Mamaw, Mimi or whatever name one is called has nothing to do with being the mother of one’s father or mother! The “grand” role is one of providing the unexpected adventures, unconditional love and the unanticipated lifetime connection created between a grandmother and the grandchild!
